Can I put ground elder roots in my compost?
I've dug out a load of rhizomes and don't want to bin them all.

Don't compost the rhizomes. Even small fragments survive a normal compost heap and will regrow wherever you spread it. Let the roots dry out completely on a hard surface or in a sealed bag until they're dead and brittle first, or send them out with garden waste. The leafy top growth alone is fine to compost.
